Park Sang-hwan, the chairman or Hana Tour
was awarded of Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit in the 40th Tourism
Day celebration event held in 27th September.
Han Okmin, the recently appointed president of Modu Tour was awarded of
Prime Minister Prize.
MCST(Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Minister Yu Jin-ryong)
held a celebration event of the 40th World Tourism Day in Seoul Lotte Hotel and
awarded prize to 104 representatives and employees in tourism business.
About 700 persons including Jo Hyun-jae(MCST vice minister), Nam
Sangman(the president of Korea Tourism Central Association), Jeong Se-gyun(a
congressman), Shin Hak-yong(the chairman of Bureau of Education, Culture,
Sports and Tourism in national assembly), Kim Jae-yoon(Representative of Study
Forum of Culture and Tourism in national assembly), foreign diplomatic
delegates to Korea and other prize winners have attended in this event.
■ Awarded Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to Park Sang-hwan,
the chairman of Hana Tour and other awards to overall 104 persons.
The
best honor of the day, Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded
to Park Sang-hwan, the chairman or Hana Tour who has been contributed to
tourism business.
And, Lee Seok-myung, the Representative Director of Dongma Inc., who has
been greatly contributed to the progress of tourism industry, was awarded of
Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. And overall 24 persons were
awarded of the Order of Industrial Service Merit in Tourism Promotion, the President
Citation and Prime Minister Citation.
In addition, the Tower Order of Tourism Promotion was awarded to 15
travel agencies that have contributed to improving tourism profits by earning
$1,000,000,000 in tourism business.
In this 40th Tourism Day celebration event which was the first ever
since president Park Geun-Hye’s inauguration, the scale of the prize had been
enlarged by awarding one more Order of Industrial Service Merit.
And it shows the government’s interest and encouragement on tourism
industry as it was emphasized in the first Tourism Promotion Conference that
was held in 17th July after observing 11,000,000 annual foreign tourists of
2012.
Especially, in this event, prize was awarded not only to representatives
of the industry but also to “hidden contributors” as field experts, translation
guides, tourism school teachers, sellers and tourism information center’s
employees.
This reflected the current government’s policies that emphasize on field
service.
Jo Hyun-jae, the vice minister of MCST said, “Every workers in tour
service industry who face tourists in person are the actual power of tourism
business”. And he stated that the government will assist multi-complex tourism
service by educating creative experts in the industry.
■ Seminar about invigoration of domestic tour
industry
After the celebration event, in Garnet
Sweet of Lotte Hotel, the policy seminar under title of “Policy for invigoration of domestic
tour industry : Tour that makes people happy, Tour that helps region” was hosted by Korea
Tourism Academy and Korea Tourism Central Association.
In the seminar, about 100 members from
different fields have attended and discussed about promoting tourism culture through
invigorating domestic tour industry and about new policy tasks for creating tour industry
related jobs.
MCST(Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism) is going to reflect the opinions suggested during the seminar in establishing
comprehensive policy for invigorating domestic tour industry and announce in this year.
